CYMS Killorglin takes a powerful step towards sustainability

The CYMS Community Centre in Killorglin, a vital hub for cultural and recreational activities in the area, has undergone a significant transformation with the installation of solar panels by Kerry-based renewable energy solutions provider Prosolar.

The initiative, made possible through a grant from Community and Voluntary Energy Support Scheme provided through the Department of Rural and Community Development, aims to equip the centre with sustainable energy solutions, reducing its carbon footprint while enhancing its operational efficiency.

The installation of solar at the CYMS signifies a powerful step towards sustainability and environmental stewardship in mid-Kerry and demonstrates the importance of renewable energy adoption in public spaces.

“We are thrilled to receive this funding and collaborate with Prosolar to bring sustainable energy solutions to our community centre,” said CYMS manager Aidan Clifford. “This initiative aligns with our commitment to environmental responsibility and will significantly contribute to reducing our reliance on traditional energy sources,” he added.

Tadhg Hayes, solar consultant at Prosolar, remarked: “We are proud to support the CYMS Community Centre in their transition towards sustainable energy practices. This project underscores our belief in the transformative power of renewable energy and its ability to create a greener, more resilient future for all.”

The installation of solar panels at the CYMS Community Centre is anticipated to significantly reduce the facility’s carbon emissions while providing long-term energy cost savings.
